On safe mode it works even slower. (And the USB mouse doesnt work there.
Good thing we didnt go for that "USB keyboard" they offered.)

Anyway, on normal mode all I just terminate things from the system tray,
and what I cant do from there I do from the task manager. So by the time
I do scandisk only the most basic utilities survive. :) So thats not the
problem.

The surface scan is just slow, and does not "restart the scan" every
few seconds.

..by the way - its Windows ME. True horror. Trust me, you REALLY dont
want to get near that thing.
