Even if you get the mouse working without changing Windows version I would
highly suggest that you upgrade to 3.11. In everything that I've read oin
the subject the changes are *big* when it comes to stability and such (it
is NOT only the network layer that has changed). I remember one magazine
that reviewed it when it came out where the title was: "They should have
called it Windows 3.5" since the changes where so many. Additionalluy I've
always (and still) run Win 3.11 and I have very seldom any problems with
the system in itself (Netscape on the other hand likes to crash and take
all the memory with it). Mind you the changes were biggest (AFAIK
anyway) between 3.10 and 3.11 - but the changes between 3.0 and 3.1 were
many as well.
Strange that nowdays all they seem to do is add seldom used features,
integrate Explorer and Outlook even more with everything else and add
drivers, and adding all the bugs there's no wonder why I choose to use Win
3.11 for WorkGroups (there was a "plain" 3.11 version as well IIRC but I
don't know anything about it) instead of Win95/98/NT4. I'm going to see
how WinME works sometime in January, or between christmas and the new
year. Somehow I doubt I'm going to change my main Windows installation ;-)
