Hello Or,

If the computer has been in your hands for awhile....and it has since
you sent this message on Tuesday... I would switch power supplies and
monitors, and fir it up. The floppy drives may very well be shot,
However. I wouldn't risk using the power supply until you have opened
it up, blown out all the dust, and made sure it was dry. The monitor
should probably have it's case removed, and put it somewhere warm for a
few days.

After you have fiddled with the computer a bit, I would completely
disassemble it. Check for corrosion, maybe throw all the boards in the
dish washer if you have one. If the boards have lots of chips that look
like they would hold water, I wouldn't get them wet unless you have
access to compressed air, However. Socketed chips will hold more water
than chips directly soldered to the board. Them prop the boards in
front of a fan for a few hours, and reassemble. Check your MB to see if
it has a relay looking device....if you get that wet, you will need to
remove the clear plastic cover and spray contact cleaner in it, and use
compressed air as well to dry it. I can't remember if the PC has it, or
the XT.

Is the case rusty at all? If not, it probably wasn't exposed to water
for very long.

If the floppies don't work, I wouldn't know what to do, besides cleaning
the heads, and checking cable connections.

I bought an IBM Model 60 at Goodwill this past summer. It had obviously
spent time outdoors. I loaded it into the back of my truck and then
went to watch the girls church softball team play at a nearby field. It
started pouring rain! I didn't go home yet, However, I went to a
friends house. When I did eventually get home, I lugged the soggy
computer up to my apartment, and opened up the case. It was wet, but
not too bad. It looked like the damage had been done previously. I let
it dry, maybe an hour, then decided to see if it would boot :-) It did
absoluelty nothing :-) That was fine with me, However. I wanted it
mostly for parts from the case. I did take the MFM Microchannel card,
and the Seagate HD out. I also salvaged the power supply fan, as it was
a nice big aluminum fan, that I installed in my Socket 7 server case.
