Hi,
It is possible that you may have a virus. Download
F-prot and check it out. It could also be a problem
with some of the TSRs in your autoexec.bat and
config.sys. I wouldn't use a screensaver, they are
usually buggy and they make your system run slower.
Also DOS screensavers are incompatible with Windows(
3.0, 3.1, etc.).
Are you running your programs (TSR) in the UMB area?
Some programs are incompatible, and cannot be run in
Upper memory.
I would try to work it this way:
1st) Download F-prot (or another antivirus
software).Check your drive.
2nd) Download a program to check your hardware.
3rd) Boot with a clean autoexec.bat a config.sys files
(Place a REM statement in front of all of your TSRs
except the most basic; himem.sys, emm386.exe,etc.) You
should make sure that no programs are running in the
upper memory area.
4th) Test if everything is working correctly. If
everything works fine then start adding (one at a time
) more TSRs. Test if it works, and add one more.
5th) Everything should be working fine by now (g)
Good luck,
Inigo
PD: Don't use a screensaver. It is almost impossible
to burn a screen and you will only be getting trouble
with it.
