Using win3.11 I set up a network (BNC) of 3 486 pc's.
Then I sold the 486 notebook, leaving me with a two pc network. This worked
fine until I move one computer to the other end of the room.
Instead of +/-50cm cable to connect them, I now use some 5m of coax-cable.
Both computers now hang when windows starts looking for the rest of the
network.
(At least, I think this is the case)
So, *question*, is there a max. lenght for this kind of network cable? Is
it possible to "boost up" the signal? Or should I just move the pc back,
and use a short cable?
Oh, yes.
Not quite the right group for this (but if discussions about celebs &
TV-show are OK, then this sure is). I bought a Commodore 16. Looks and even
smells like new.
Come to think about it, is there an (e)group about old none PC machines?
thanks for any tips,
Bas
