It varies with the BIOS, but three beeps is real
serious trouble. Nothing will run that gives you
three beeps. try pulling the video card, and see
if it still gives you three.
Anyone who fools with hardware on a regular basis
should get a POST card. gives the hexidecimal
readouts during the POWER ON SELF TEST. Jameco.com
has some for 50$, but if you are real serious, and
need to work with ATX boards, you might consider
the 300$ jobbie.
You need to identify the BIOS chip, and surf for
the beep code specs.
