Is it just me ???? It seems as though every one of my posts this week has
somehow managed get everyone going. :) Since I'm the rookie let me add my
02.

As slow as my computer may be, I still want X. Note: This is going to be a
workgroup, and possibly ultra low end internet server at some point. I
don't plan on doing GUI work on it. No star office, no Netscape, no nothing
like that.

I just want X so I can fumble around and possibly make some correct choices
while learning and maintaining this stuff. If I have a choice between
possibly making some progress (albeit slowly) using X, then that is better
sitting there at a blank screen with a prompt, trying like mad to figure out
my next command. Who cares if my next command is blazingly fast
(relatively) when I have no clue what that next command will be. ;)

I have enough sense to kill X on surv pc hardware when I am done needing it.
I can also fire it back up if I am in a jam. Eventually, hopefully, I won't
bother to fire it up at all, but... for the time being I would like to know
it's there and functional even if it is sucking my minimal resources.

Best,
John (I will get to the other emails shortly)

PS. A install that recognizes all my hardware (graphical or not) is a
___really___ big plus for a rookie on a schedule.
