Having run an old SuSE distro on a 486SX/25 with 4MB of RAM and a 128MB HDD (with 16MB set aside as swap), I can tell you even the default desktop of the time (uhm, fvwm2 with GoodStuff running, a clock and a pair of xeyes, plus two xterms to work in) was painfully slow. I dropped it for ZipSlack shortly afterwards. From the CLI, it was rather nippy -- just waiting for the disk to seek usually. Regards, Ben A L Jemmett.
