Katz used to post public messages and more so during his
court case with SEA.

I appreciate the contribution all archive software made
when we had limited storage capacities.  PKware was one
of many who made contributions.

I cannot say that I was moved to tears when Katz ended his
own life.  He was one of many programmers whose efforts I
appreciated.  No more, no less.

The people who discovered efficient methods (algorithms) for
compression; Huffman, Liv-Zempel-Welch, Shan-Fano, and others
enriched Phil's life.  Without their contributions there would
have been no PKzip.
