I was using Netscape 3.04, so perhaps 4.77 is better.
However, it was interesting that the browser with
a smaller footprint, designed for 486s, is actually
significantly slower than the much larger, up-to-date
browser.

Maybe, maybe not. I expect people to be running X on
BL2 in March.

Sure, people can play if they like. However, BasicLinux
is a slim installation -- you can not depend on everything
being there by default. I think it is important for me
to trail-blaze important applications (like a graphical
browser). For example, it was not easy getting Netscape
3.04 to work on BL1. Sure, the instructions look simple
enough; but it took many, many hours of trial and error
to get it that simple.

In a couple of months time, I want to do the same thing
for BL2. Before then, I would like to know which browser
we are heading for. I'm having to make choices about what
goes into the BL2 foundation. Some of those choices could
be relevant to the browser.

Cheers,
Steven
