Apple Computer seemed to initiate the process of donating
equipment to schools. Get a kid hooked on your hardware
and software and as an adult that is what he wants at work.

I know IBM sells hardware at cost or below to schools and
am told schools will not accept donations of equipment that
is unable to execute the newer OS out there in the marketplace.

This does _not_ mean they are teaching the kids anything, only
that their egos won't allow it. :-\
