Noting John's comments regarding Flash plugin size, perhaps what Adobe *could* do is enable the Flash plugin to install SVG support when neeeded, using the same mechanisms it uses to update itself automatically when new versions become available, or it hits content that requires a later version of the plugin?
It seems a shame to throw away good technology, and if Adobe could instead incorporate the SVG renderer into the Flash plugin using a scheme like that, where it won't affect player size for the initial download (and thus will not be seen as plugin bloat), we'd have a pretty good solution for browsers that require an SVG plugin. Anyway, the above may be completely impractical or technically impossible. I just thought I'd share it in case it's not. :-) Guy On 06/12/2006, at 10:09 AM, John Dowdell wrote: > Guy Morton wrote: >> Re: the suggestion that Adobe will build support for SVG into the >> Flash plugin, that's a tantalising prospect, but I can't see it >> happening in our lifetimes.
