Re: X. On Ubuntu 10.04, at least, SVG support is included in libwebkit which
GTK uses, although strangely I haven't been able to get SMIL animation
to work.

Being in SVG conference in Paris on September 2010 it was confirmed that my SVG
clips which I did in 2006 (wonderries.mobi) does yet not play right with
WebKit.

I wonder why my clips was playing right on Nokia devices which are using
WebKit?

In 2006 Nokia was using Real player which included Adobe SVG code. Then my
clips
played only when going to the full screen mode.

Maybe it comes from there? Also Nokia QT toolkit specifies SVG library
separately from WebKit functions.

Wow, they disabled a lot of nice HTML5 features.

A perhaps better (and open) alternative to Air may be GTK+ with embedded
Webkit. I've been playing around with it, and it's actually quite nice
and easy to work with, although I haven't tried it on Windows or Mac OS
X. On Ubuntu 10.04, at least, SVG support is included in libwebkit which
GTK uses, although strangely I haven't been able to get SMIL animation
to work.

Also related, if you're interested in developing RIA's for GNOME,
Seedkit is worth watching, as it gives you the Webkit runtime, and
exposes native GTK and GNOME objects to the scripting environment:
