Well, survival horror (a name started with Resident Evil, but lets face it,
the game was nothing more then Alone in the Dark with better graphics and
less puzzles) shouldn't be limited to the modern games. I've never played
Aliens on the C64, but spent many hours playing the MSX version on a friends
computer, and remember being REALLY terrified of it. I had never seent he
Alien movies at that point (big fan nowadays) and didn't know what to
expect. me and my friend both jumped off the floor (we didn't have tables
for our computers back then... and we had to walk 30 miles in the snow to
school) when the first alien attacked us. Great music in the game as well.
Don't let the perspective fool you, survival horror can come in all sorts of
flavors.
And as a side note... was anyone ever scared of Alone in the Dark?
