I just did a search for the C64 version of Aliens.  Turns out there were two
versions of the game, one for the US and one for Europe.  The US version
looks like utter crap, while the European version (made by Electronic
Dreams) is the game I'm referrign to.  It had a pseudo 1st person view
(similar to Operation Wolf, but with much more control as to motion).

C64.com has screens of both on their site.
