Hi Kyle, Thanks for that. As you can see by the film on the link below, it does play, but it just would be great to get controls and stop the autoplay - I would even pay someone else to do it. Getting really desperate for it to work now.
All videos play on my other 2 testing pc's, one has IE6 and one has IE7, but the one that can't play the films posted here earlier can't be viewed on my other testing pc, which is IE6 and Flash 6 - a combination that on recent guestimates would take care of about 3-4% of the worlds population ! Chris- You're right, I can't think of ANY modern video players that are FP6 compatible. That player version is so old, all of the ones I know of have long since abandoned being able to work in it. www.invodo.com requires FP9.0.115. It uses a recent version of JW Player which I know is not supported back to FP6. In fact, if I recall correctly, .FLV files are not even supported in FP6. So that cuts out pretty much every video player in existence. I'd recommend moving to a newer version of Flash if you want to support video playback. --Kyle From: Chris <mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 14, 2010 2:35 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Can anyone show me a website page, where they have a swf film . . . . . Hi Jimbo, I'm sure most of us on this list have 'real work' to do, but it's still always good to help others wherever possible! Anyways, the video on the link you gave, doesn't work in IE6 and Flash 6 (about 10% of the worlds population are on IE6). You also seem to have made an incorrect assumption of me being a non-believer, but there again, it is very difficult to believe in something that doesn't actually work in the parameters I mentioned <grin> The screengrab of what I see on your link : <http://www.130809.com/jim-berkey-1.jpg> www.130809.com/jim-berkey-1.jpg (hth) There again, there's a link to a video that does work in IE6 and Flash 6 : <http://www.130809.com/video-10> www.130809.com/video-10 BUT, it doesn't have any controls, and it autoplays - the controls are needed and for it not to autoplay. Now, can anyone help please :-) Chris. _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jim Berkey Sent: Thursday, January 14, 2010 8:48 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Can anyone show me a website page, where they have a swf film . . . . . Most of us probably have real work to do . . . proving to an unbeliever that something works is a bit like pushing a string uphill. You'd be better served on the list if you created what you want first, and if/when it doesn't work, provide a link to it and then ask for help. You want flashplayer 6 - a progressive downloaded flv movie file - viewable in IE6 I don't test for IE6 any more, and don't have it, but here is a movie in flash player 6 'with full controls': http://jimbo.us/flv hth, jimbo On Thu, Jan 14, 2010 at 1:25 PM, Chris <[email protected]> wrote: Seem to be having some problems getting replies on this from the group ?
