Hi Jens. Thanks fort asking. Yes, you can distribute the swfobject library with your project (modified or not). The original credits need to remain intact. Other than that, you should be good to go. There used to be a proper copyright statement in v2.0 / 2.1. I am unsure where that has gone in v2.2.
Following the previous convention, it should look like this: SWFObject v2.2 <http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/> Copyright (c) 2007-2010 Geoff Stearns, Michael Williams, and Bobby van der Sluis This software is released under the MIT License < http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php> Cheers, Aran On Fri, Apr 16, 2010 at 8:26 AM, Jens Remus <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi! > > I would like to include SWFObject as-is in my own open-source project > (Wordpress Plugin) that is licensed under the GPLv2. > > Regarding the compatibility of the GPLv2 with the MIT License, there > should not be any issue: > http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#GPLCompatibleLicenses > > I do not plan to make any modifications to the SWFObject source code, > but I would like to ship its JavaScript file without the accompanying > files (i.e. not the full contents of the archive and neither the > archive itself).
