Made it back home myself after a very long day. I flew into BWI and rode up with fellow Scum Bob Crain this year. We left the hotel around 1030 on Sunday, and only a few miles south ran into the start of the snow. As we drove farther south it got sloppier, turning into sleet and freezing rain. We took the Eastern Shore route instead of I-95 as there weren’t as many nut job drivers, and a good thing. Lots of accidents and spinouts on I-95 were heard on the scanner. The Eastern Shore route was slushy and slow, but manageable. Got to the airport in enough time, and right through security, surprisingly. Got on the plane at the scheduled time. . . and waited 2 hours while BWI crews cleared the runways and taxiways of slush to avoid it being sucked into engines. Then they were only allowing two flights at a time to taxi and de-ice due to the slush, so by the time we taxied out and got de-iced it was about 2.5 hours late. Got back to Columbus to find nearly 4 inches of snow on the ground at the airport; I had parked in the garage to avoid this, and glad of it. Roads were wet but clean so I made it home in good order, some 15+ hours after rolling out of the sack in the morning. After this trip the idea of the "SWL Springfest” sounds better and better. Even so, I had a great time as usual, and have had my faith in shortwave radio partially renewed (full renewal would only be possible with a real increase in SW broadcasting. . . I miss the glory days of sitting in the basement workshop listening to everywhere on earth).
