I think a "default locale" fallback behavior ought to exist for all of the widgets. Otherwise creating an easy to install project is a minefield (will it blow up if I use this widget? How about this one?). It doesn't have to be exciting. YYYY-MM-DD, no attempt at commas in NumberField and % at the end in PercentField seems likely to be very widely understood, and those who want to know why it isn't better will discover the Intl issue through the documentation.
