And if you don't want to install homebrew (but why shouldn't you :)),
you can also use this script
https://github.com/chregu/build-entropy-php
which compiles and installs PHP 5.3 and all dependencies into /usr/local/php
(for OS X 10.6 only)

It's a fork of entropy-php and our official build here at Liip, so it's
constantly updated to any changing needs of Symfony2 (and other PHP
stuff we need)
