The one disadvantage that I could see for sets over lists is that you can't reference items in a set. So you may not want the solutions to be sorted in any particular way, but you might want them sorted in the sense that sols[0] is always the same.
You can always convert the set to a list. Please note that currently sols[0] can be different on different platforms.
