Let's discuss the possible annoyances with this. So far it seems to me the changes are relatively minor, but let's make sure about that. Let's also discuss the advantages of this (e.g. one source base works in all Pythons, no more 2to3 slowness, no more problems with setup.py, easier release from one tarball --- if we want to, ...).
