Try googling on that error about small packet - it was occasionally discussed on these forums.
Concerning the password file, I meant that since your automounter runs as a service, it probably runs as root (since you didn't write that you modified its SMF props). As such, it probably doesn't care about .nwmrc stored in your user's directory (~justine), so I suggested you make a copy in root's home (/ or /root usually). Concerning the snooped dialog, it seems reasonable (i.e. it happens at all), but I don't think I can really help on with it.
