pmtu discovery is possible using UDP but since packet size is
specified in user space and with normal API you has no way to know
pmtu size how you can tune packet size? So Linux, FreeBSD and others
keep pmtu discovery for UDP turned off by default. With syslog this
can be a big problem.
In effect using a TCP connection keeped alive it's possible to avoid
this problem.
