The problem is the crashing though.  Something like Wannabe for
System 6 would be nice.  It is stable, text only, and has an
effective way to access search engines.

We're talking about a web browser here, not production quality
video editing without external hardware. ;-)  There are web browsers
for much lesser machines.  The Apple IIgs is one of them.  I'm also
satisfied that they can be as fast as modern web browsers (over a
modem, of course) if you cut the crud and go for the content (ie.
text in my books).
