RTFM. :-)

There is no error 74 [1]. There is an error -74 [2], which means "write underrun."

If you search Google for "what is write underrun" you'll get many articles on buffer underrun, a phenomenon commonly observed when burning CDs. A CD burn has to be uninterrupted; to ensure this, a CD burner has a buffer in it. The computer fills the buffer with data from one end, and the burner takes the data out at the other end. As long as there is data in the buffer, all is well, and the computer is supposed to check the buffer many times a second and keep topping it off with data. If the computer doesn't do this -- for example because it's busy opening Photoshop -- then the buffer gets depleted and you get a coaster.

None of this really applies to floppies though so I'm not sure why you're seeing that error. Or maybe it means something else in this case. Ignoring the specific error code, and just accepting that "an" error occurred, I can suggest:

- It was a momentary fluke. Try it again.
- The floppy disk is bad. Try it with a different floppy disk.
- The disk image is bad. Are they the right size? Does Disk Copy verify the disk images as being good? Try downloading the disk images again.
- The floppy drive is bad. Since I know you don't have another floppy drive to try, just try copying files to the floppy disk in the Finder. Does it work? Even if you fill the disk completely?
