Hello, I have a Mac 512k (not 512ke) with a 400k external floppy drive and internal 400k drive. I have read that I can use an 800k external drive if I put the HD20 init on my 400k boot disk (which allows the 800k to function, albeit just not bootable). However, I would like to know if I can put a total 3 floppy drives on my Mac512.
You see, the Apple 3.5" External drive, model A9M0106, has an extra port to daisy chain floppy drives. So can I plug A9M0106 drive in the 512, then plug my external 400k drive into the A9M0106 port. The physical connection can be made, it seems, but will all 3 drives then work fine on the 512? I currently don't have the A9M0106 800k drive, but I am pondering the purchase of one. But I would like to be able to use all 3 drives if possible. This may work on 512ke's or Plus's, but I would like to know if this setup will work on the original 512. Any insight any of you can shed on the situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
