Yes, I would appreciate knowing too! I can only assume the reason why a 512 could not daisy chain 2 external floppies off the same port is due to the lack of sufficient drive current from the motherboard, as opposed to a software incompatibility. Connecting two drives might overload the power source? But I don't have the hardware to test this.
