You could give this a shot. Keep in mind I have only tested this on the following Nokia's...6590i, 6610 and 3595.
1) Enable the option of PIN code request. It is under Security settings. I believe the Nokia default for this 1234 or 12345. This is the SIM security option that prompts you for a password after rebooting your phone. 2) Once this is enabled send an operator logo to the phone. Accept the option to save if sending via SMS. You still will not see the new logo. 3) Now hit *3370# It will ask you if you want to Change Active Speech Codec. This feature enables EFR (Enhanced Full Rate) voice coding. Say OK. The phone will do a soft reboot and the logo should appear. If not, repeat the *3370# process of rebooting the phone. It appears there is a glitch when the PIN request is on and the EFR is activated. When I am in a no service area I lose the logo quite often and have to *3370# to get it back. -Mark -- Supporter of the MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) for T-Mobile http://www.tinyurl.com/2y59d [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > i do have an old SIM. its from mid-2001, and is a voicestream card. > i am using it on a 6230, which i bought from a 3rd party retailer. > its OEM and has never been locked ot any provider. in fact, in my > setting 'operator logo' is greyed out. any thoughts/direction on > how i can give it a try? ------------------------ Yahoo!
