Data is extra when roaming in Canada even if you have a data plan. Data roaming costs are $.01/kb in Canada and $.015 everywhere else. If you have a BB you can add unlimited international data for $19.99 in addition to your BB plan. Even for a short trip that would be quite a bargain at .01/kb and .015/kb. Donna's email alone was 13k and would have cost you $0.13 to download. That may not sound like a lot but it adds up quickly.
According to the T-Mobile International Roaming page. Canada is $.49 plus long distance. It doesn't say what the long distance cost is to call back to the states so you'd probably have to call to find out that rate.
