I did this same thing a couple of months ago (by making calls via UMA we don't need as many minutes). Basically, I had to extend the contract of one of the three lines (with less than a year remaining) so that it was two years out, but the rep said I didn't have to further extend the other two (that each had just over a year remaining due to prior handset upgrades). I was surprised that they didn't require all three to be extended for a full two years, but I'm not complaining. With 1000 shared mins and myFaves for $79.99, $19.99 BIS, $9.99 unlimited family messenging, and $9.99 unlimited UMA, I'm not planning to go anywhere even with the horrible coverage. But if they forced me onto the newer data plans, I'd likely leave for AT&T. The nuisance fees have gotten really out of hand considering the coverage here is actually worse than six years ago. Aside from UMA support (which is really about making up for network inadequacy and cutting their own costs rather than offering a true customer benefit), they've completely ceased being an innovator and have continued to play the follower under Dotson's leadership.
