I've mostly used cardboard, and I find cards are easier to turn if you move
them forward and backward as a pack before turning them. It tends to loosen
your death grip on them and free any thread likely to stick. Try that.

Subject: plastic cards do they make a difference?
Sponsored by TWIST - Tablet Weavers International Studies & Techniques
I have been using plastic-coated regulation poker
playing cards cut sqare with holes punched in the
ends, and have been getting frustrated with them.
Both the warp and the weft are standard crochet
pearl-cotton like is sold at "Wal-mart", "Michaels" or
"Jo-Ann's" The frustration is that as soon as I get
more than about 20 cards, the cards are hard to turn,
and I have to turn them in groups of 4 or 5. (I have
the same problem with cards weather on an "inkle" loom
or "warp weighted" each card individually. I have had
the same problem with the "cardboard" (non-plastic
coated) tablet weaving cards. (Mine cardbooard
card-weaving cards say "Unicorn" on them.)
My question is :
Is there a big difference between the plasic coated
Lacis card-weaving cards and the cardbard cards? or Is
it worth my time and effort to make new cards out of
plastic? (container plastic, think like the flat sides
of a liquid clothes-detergent bottles)
Thanks for the ideas!
Eva
