> Ellen's idea of using two dowels as a warp spreader > is intriguing -- and I > will have to try that. I never used to use a warp spreader. I was primarily doing bands of fairly narrow width, and the cards themselves spread the warp enough most of the time. When I started working with reeled silk, it shreds much more easily, and I realized about halfway through a project that having a spreader would make a world of difference. What I ended up using was a big plastic comb. I have since figured out that I can spread the warp with the comb and then tie on a chopstick on the other side of the warp from the comb back; it makes it hang on nicely. I'm using an inkle loom as my frame, so I can't make use of most of the bench-mounted types of spreader. Michael __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam?
