I tried to summarise all that was then known about the early history of tablet weaving, when I wrote my book, "Techniques Of Tablet Weaving", some time before 1982. You will find eight pages near the beginning of the book devoted to this... Earliest weaving, earliest tablets, earliest written evidence..... Fairly detailed. One has to remember that warp-twined fabrics can be made by other methods than tablet weaving; so finding the structure itself is not proof; though finding four-strand warp-twining begins to be good evidence. To date its persistence into more recent times seems harder.
