Hi,
I am not a spinner and had a question for spinning card weavers for some
time.
It must be possible to use the twist of the yarn to create a pattern.
Assume you thread one card with S-spun yarn, the next card with Z-spun yarn,
thread them in the same direction, and turn all cards the same way. Or,
thread 2 holes of all cards with S-spun yarn, 2 with Z-spun yarn, and
set the cards up for (Egyptian) diagonals. The patterns will be subtle
but what is wrong with that?
I have woven several monochromatic pieces where the twist of the cards
created the pattern. It works really well especially if your yarn has a
lot of sheen and twist. But will it work as well if we drop down one level?
Has anybody tried this? Which will work better, singles or plied yarn?
