Stay open like "Open"StreetMap ;-) We do not need this tag to tag a cul-de-sac. There are other ways as even the geometrie and connected ways give you this information. If you want to tag the sign that is fine, please use traffic_sign=*. I am trying to find reasons why it is used that much on ways and if it is useful but you are the first one in favour of ways. If you have a look at the wiki history you will find wiki fiddling some years ago, later the activism on the page was little. I am still looking for good reasons to use it on ways but I did not find any so far. Please, tell me if you know some.
