The existing grades seem to be UK-centric, and useful in this context. This discussion shows that they don't work well in some other places. Isn't the obvious solution to keep the existing numerical grades more or less unchanged, perhaps with a bit more clarification, but then introduce gradeA, gradeB, ... or whatever to cover other sorts of track?
