Routing via OSM works fine, & it's what I always use, via OSMand+. Yes, the "shape" of the roads on the map may be different to what's on the ground, but it will still take you to your correct destination - depending, on course, of that destination, & the intervening roads, being mapped! I'd love to speak more about our scenario but I'd end up writing a 10 page > email. I'm not joking.
