Sounds like a good idea, and thanks for posting it here. In this case where you're just taking the existing ref tag and using it to create and add the website tag, there's no licensing concern.
The actual URL should be whatever is considered the official and primary URL for the stop, but that's also easy to change later if it ever changes.
