vor kurzem hatte ich die Möglichkeit durch Deutschland, Italien und andere Länder zu reisen und Mapper zu treffen. Dies war sehr lehrreich und ich lernte viel über die verschiedenen Communities in diesen Ländern. Es gibt einige feine Unterschiede zwischen den verschiedenen Ländern und wie OSM dort funktioniert. Manche haben mehr Mapping Parties, manche haben Treffen wie Stammtische, manche haben PR, manche organisieren sich in der Mailingliste. Dies sind gesunde Unterschiede. Eine Sache, die mir allerdings oft überall auffiel, waren Missverständnisse über die Arbeit der Foundation, OSMF. Es ist ein bisschen wie FUD [1]. Diese Missverständnisse bezogen sich auf die Lizenz, auf die Server, auf die Arbeitsgruppen, die Software, die State of the Map Konferenz und andere Dinge. Sehr schnell fand ich heraus, dass man diese Missverständnisse sehr leicht mit Diskussionen korrigieren kann. Die Foundation und ich versucht haben Leute aus Deutschland einzubinden, aber wir haben es anscheinend nicht stark genug versucht. Dies liegt zum Teil auch daran, dass die Freiwilligen der Foundation bereits eine Menge Arbeit haben und daher manchmal Dinge übersehen. Es war eine große Überraschung, dass die Leute, die ich in Deutschland traf, sagten, dass ich in Englisch zu talk-de schreiben soll. Wir haben immer gedacht, dass ihr das nicht leiden könnt. Somit habe ich etwas sehr wichtiges gelernt. Nun bin ich also im Sinne der Kommunikation hier, um jegliche offenen Fragen zu beantworten. Vielleicht habt ihr gehört, dass ich böse [2] bin und wir die Lizenz ändern, damit sie so böse wie die CDDB [3] ist. Im Allgemeinen ist dies jedoch nicht der Fall und wir sind Mapper wie ihr, die versuchen es besser, sicherer und verlässlicher zu machen und natürlich mehr Dinge zu mappen. Also bitte nehmt an, dass alles was ihr hier negativ seht nicht negativ gemeint ist. Eine kleine Geschichte von der Italienischen OSM.it Konferenz bei der ich vor einigen Wochen war. Sie hatten dort einen Anwalt, der darüber sprach, dass die ODBL nicht böse ist und welche Punkte an ihr wichtig sind. Bei der Hälfte sagte der Anwalt etwas wie "ja, ihr solltet sie nutzen, weil sie im Prinzip das selbe wie CC-BY-SA ist, nur viel besser und besser zu den Daten passt." Es gab eine sichtbare Erleichterung und ein Lächeln im Publikum, als er dies sagte. Ich bin einfach zu der Konferenz gekommen ohne Vorwarnung und hatte nichts damit zu tun. Ich habe einem wichtigen italienischen Mapper, Simone, diese Nachricht auch geschickt und er kann dies bestätigen. Ich denke, ich kann keine gleiche Freude zu euch allen hier über die Mailinglist hier bringen, aber ich hoffe es hilft. Also kann ich Fragen beantworten oder habt ihr einen Kommentar dazu?
