Good point :) If Eircodes can't be collected in a public db then it's a nail in Eircode's coffin. If it can, it should be ok to scrape the data to reach a usable level of completeness and add some QA for osm. Not everybody on osm-ie is on board with the 'let it fail' tactic it seems.
