Hi Dan

That just show me how to add the OSM overlays to an existing map in my app.

The directions that come from the Eircode site uses a custom url scheme of
maps.apple.com <http://maps.apple.com/> as it’s detecting that iPhone is in the
user agent header. That will open the maps app automatically. On other
platforms it jumps to maps.google.com <http://maps.google.com/> which I’m
guessing is customisable on Android as to what opens it.

This is not an option on iOS to have another app using the maps.apple.com
<http://maps.apple.com/> url scheme.

I’ve asked Eircode if they have an API available but they don’t but will have a
list of third party suppliers of Eircode data soon. That means we could
purchase lookups of eircode data at very low prices. But it does not allow us
to publish a free app which is fully capable of doing what one would like to be
able to do. Maybe down the road when the usage increase there would be a market
for an app which works as you would need but for now I guess we’ll wait and see
how it pans out.
