So I did some tests.

If I go to finer.eircode.ie on my phone and put in a postcode, and
then click directions, the co-ordinates are handed over to my phone. I
then have a choice of which mapping app to use. It is important to
pick DIRECTIONS as other options use the eircode mapping website. The
DIRECTIONS option does not appear on the non mobile version.

Using google maps, it takes my current location and directs me all the
way to a GPS position. This currently works even though google maps
does not support eircode.

You can do this 15 times a day, currently, and assuming an OSM app
works the same, it will also be handed the position. It even shows the
address info with the house number and name pulled from Eircode.

This is a current possible use case. I am assuming it is currently
possible or should be possible with OSM. I don't have any OSM apps on
my phone at present to try.
