Hello All,
My name is Byron Lee, and I have just recently discovered the list due
to Derek's help. I have been looking for a place to meet people like
myself and Derek said there were a lot of really cool people on this
list. I was doing my weird little talk show on ACB Radio Mainstream last
week and Derek MSN'd me and asked a few questions about the show. We
tried to get together on MSN over the last week and every damn time it
never worked out. He'd MSN me back and I'd be asleep or watching Big
Brother or whatever and just never managed to be in the same quadrant of
Cyberspace at the same time. Well, this morning we got to talking on the
phone and I asked why there was no IRC channel for us all to hang out in
and he said there was one but not many people were in there when I
looked. So he told me about the Talk2 list which I had heard of but
never managed to subscribe. So here I am, don't be too cruel!
A little bit about myself....
I am a broadcaster on many internet, satellite, and FM stations around
the US. The main affiliate is The w0kie Satellite Radio Network, which
you can hear on C-Band Satellite. The guy who owns the network is a HAM
Radio Operator and his call happens to be W0KIE, but we call the network
Wookie. The internet relay of W0KIE is Radio Free Dishnuts. You can
listen by going to www.dishnuts.net/rfd2.m3u if you have Winamp or some
other media player that'll do streaming mp3. I am also on ACB Radio
Interactive, ACB Radio Mainstream, CC Rocks, and Dementia Radio. You can
also hear me on the radio at WTND-LP Macomb, IL, WQNA Springfield, IL,
and on KWSS-LP Scottsdale, AZ. My website is www.byronlee.com and there
are archives of all of the shows there. Enough about my internet radio
exploits, that's not the reason why i am e-mailing everyone. As you can
tell, radio is one of my passions in life, but my second passion in life
is communications. I am a HAM Radio Operator, my callsign is KC9EEK. I
got my Technician License at the Dayton 2003 Hamvention. I am also into
the phone network of yesteryear. If I had been born about 20 years ago
I'd probablly consider myself to be a phreak, which is what they called
Telephone Hackers back in the day. I also love computers,
comedy/dementia music, and audio production... see
www.darkerprojects.com for some of my post-production efforts. I collect
sound effects and production music. I enjoy messing about in an audio
editor. The only thing I wish I was good at but am sorely not is playing
music. I don't have a musical bone in my body. I can't sing, play any
instruments, or read music. I took 2 years of piano lessons at my
father's request but I really sucked. I wish I could learn to be more
musical but its not something that I have a natural talent for. I envy
people who can create music with such ease. I love listening to you guys
doinking with your keyboards and whatnot on TBRN. I have listened on and
off over the years but I never took the initiative to call into a show
or anything. You never know when someone is listening to you. I was
there in the background tuning in occasionally and unless you looked at
your listener count you'd never even know I was there.
Anyway, I am going to send this and see who responds... see ya!
