Here are the reasons why my recording might have been pooched... I 
bought a cheap 2 gig SD card at Microcenter, $15 bucks. I found out that 
the H4 does not like strange cards. There is a list of supported cards 
on Zoom's website. Also, I am not using the new firmware so maybe if I 
updated to the new version that will keep it from loosing my files when 
the battery dies. We shall see.... Patrick, what setting do you use when 
you record, I think the mid-level setting is best as I can't fix 
distortion in post production and sometimes cars and busses and other 
loud things make it distort. There is a recording of me going out on the
