Disk CleanUp doesn't remove shortcuts from the desktop, but the system maintenance troubleshooter does.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/978980 I don't know if this pertains to Win 8 or not. -----Original Message----- From: Talk [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Larry Higgins via Talk Sent: Wednesday, July 01, 2015 4:17 PM To: Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: Where have all the shortcuts gone? This thing started, I believe, yesterday. All of a sudden, my shortcuts just keep disappearing from my desktop. I can some times go to the recycle bin and find them there, but not always. I know that in XP there was a Windows function/service or something called disk cleanup or something that would go round picking things off, and I didn't like it then either. Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening? I would really rather do it myself, thank you very much.
