Hi Larry: No problem. A ongoing identification of problems with details is
how we will help nail down any accessibility issues that AI2 might address.
This has not cropped up for anyone else but since I had it happen when I was
screwing around with some Window
Eyes settings, not before and not since, I thought it the right time and
place to describe that particular situation since It sounded very similar to
what you described.
Later and good hunting!

Hey Rick, My Bad this time, I guess. I found the shortcut files in a
folder I had copied some extracted files too from the desktop. I don't
know how the hell I managed to select those files along with the one's I
actually wanted, but in this case, I apparently did. However all that
you say about cleanup etc. is true. It just doesn't keep people like
yours truly from making dumb mistakes. But for the life of me, I can't
figure out how I managed to do that.

One issue I had with XP that I never had when using 98 was some times
when selecting one or more files to either be cut, copied, or even
deleted, I would end up selecting the entire folder, and creating a real
mess. Thank God for the Recycle bin in the case of the accidental deletions.

I tell ya what's really a lot of fun is when you go to rename one file,
and end up renaming an entire folder with the same name, but with a less
than helpful number at the end of all but one. If you are really lucky,
you discover your mistake in time and go for the undo, but if not,
You're really screwed.

I always wondered if I was entirely responsible for that somewhat
frequent mistake, or if there was something quirky within the OS that
made it so easy to do. Keep in mind that it never happened before XP,
but hasn't yet happened to me with 8.1, but you can bet I'll definitely
be on the look out.

Thanks very much for your help,

Larry
