I understand disabling speech enhancements should solve this. I spoke to Microsoft's accessibility line this afternoon. The person I spoke to said the "Disable all enhancements" option is no longer available in Windows 10. He did escalate my issue, so I may know more in the next four or five days.
It would be interesting to know if anyone does find the disable enhancements option in Windows 10. -----Original Message----- From: Richard Petty [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, August 06, 2015 8:59 AM To: 'Window-Eyes Discussion List'; 'Marc Solomon'; 'Christopher-Mark Gilland'; 'William Vandervest' Subject: Synthesizer or Speech Card Behavior on Asus Zenbook I've just purchased a Asus Zenbook notebook, installed Windows 10 and WE 9.2. In all menus and all programs, words are voiced indistinctly. Almost always the first letter is either not spoken or spoken at a lower volume level with a small pop sound. If this can't be changed, it will be hard to work with. Has anyone had this experience and have you found a workaround? I'll appreciate any help on this that's available. -----Original Message----- From: Steve Clower [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, August 05, 2015 7:55 AM To: [email protected]; Window-Eyes Discussion List; Marc Solomon; 'Christopher-Mark Gilland'; 'William Vandervest' Subject: RE: win 10 start menu Richard, Aside from the change to the Start menu itself, everything else, including navigating the task bar and desktop are exactly the same as in Windows 7 and 8, including the ability to use first-letter navigation.
