Hi. Here's another way to get rid of distortion from a PC's built in sound card.
In Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, hit the Windows key. You'll be at a spot where you can type text. Type in the following: Change sound Now hit the down arrow key. You want the Change Sound Card Settings choice. Press Enter on it. You're now on the playback page of a dialogue, and your sound devices are there. I'm assuming that your default sound device is the internal card of the PC. With things this way, arrow through the list of devices until you hear the one that's the default choice. TAB twice. You'll land on a properties button. Press Enter on it. Now, hit CTRL+TAB to get to the levels page. You'll be on the volume setting of your sound device. Use the arrow keys to adjust it to where it's a good level. TAB to OK, press Enter, TAB to OK again and press Enter. That's all there is to it. Hope this is useful. It works great for me. Have a good day, and don't work too hard.
