What you can do to track the percentage of your download is to press control plus j, this opens the downloads window and shows the percentage of any current download you have going.

Also, like others mention, there may be a lot of traffic at that time of the day. The very best time to download books from the BARD website, for me at least, has been after 5 PM eastern time. So night time is gonna be your best bet.
